"Definitely" - Journalist says Arsenal want to sign £80m star they have "scouted extensively"

The Gunners remain closely linked with a move for the Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker and he could be set for a Premier League move.

Where are Arsenal at in their pursuit of Mudryk?

The Gunners interest in the Shakhtar star started last summer, and at one point reports suggested they were close to signing the Ukrainian.

However, they couldn’t agree a fee for the 21-year-old, having tabled a bid of around £45million, while Everton also had a bid of £25.9 million rejected in the summer window.

Mudryk’s price tag has since increased and would now cost around £80 million according to The Athletic. However, that hasn’t deterred Arsenal with ‘positive talks’ already held according to Fabrizio Romano.

The signing for Arsenal could be part of a January splurge for the club that would involve not only Mudryk, but also moves for Brazilian midfielder Danilo and Villarreal’s exciting young winger, Yeremy Pino.

What does Paul Brown say about Arsenal’s interest in Mudryk?

Journalist Paul Brown believes it’s only a matter of time before Arsenal make their move for Mudryk as he is definitely one they want, after watching him for a number of games.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “They are very keen on this player. They’ve been looking at him for a long time. He’s been scouted extensively, and they’ve watched him again for several games this season. So he’s definitely one that they want. There’s definitely interest there.”

How impressive has Mudryk been this season?

Mykhailo Mudryk is seen as one of Ukrainian football’s brightest young stars, and it’s clear to see why. The clever playmaker has been involved in 17 goal contributions in the first half of the season, with ten goals to his name for Shakhtar.

The 21-year-old has also starred in the Champions League for the Ukrainian side, where he netted against both Celtic and RB Leipzig, and impressed in the two clashes against current European champions Real Madrid.

Shakhtar were knocked out of the competition at the Group Stage, but with an average rating of 6.93, he was only bettered by two of his team-mates, and led the way in goals and assists.

Arsenal are not the only club who are monitoring the player, however, and some reports suggest that the Gunners could yet face competition from Newcastle to bring Mudryk to the Premier League.
