Arsenal’s training camp in Dubai is almost over, with the squad heading home tonight after their friendly against AC Milan.

Mikel Arteta’s side recorded a 3-0 win against Lyon and will want to leave with their 100% record intact.

Arteta was able to welcome back a number of first-team players just in time to face the Italian champions.

Ben White, Thomas Partey and Matt Turner rejoined the group after their World Cup campaigns.

Arteta was missing the likes of Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale throughout the training camp.

This has given a number of Arsenal’s academy players the chance to travel with the first-team.

The likes of Lino Sousa, Taylor Foran and Ethan Nwaneri have all been involved this week.

Arsenal’s sporting director Edu was key in bringing Marquinhos to the Emirates this summer.

The deal cost the Gunners £3m, and could prove to be an absolute bargain in the future.

Arsenal will be hoping the ‘breathtaking’ forward can emulate the rapid rise of fellow countryman Gabriel Martinelli.

Martinelli’s progression provides the perfect blueprint to Marquinhos to work his way into Arsenal’s first-team.

Edu clearly has a good relationship with Marquinhos, and has been keeping a close eye on him in training.

He would have seen the youngster score a fantastic goal in Dubai that had his coaches applauding.

Edu might have also spotted Arteta stealing the ball off of him in a training drill.

A report from CalcioMercato suggests that Marquinhos could end up filling the void left by Jesus.

It would be a huge show of faith in the youngster, but potentially just the break he needs to kickstart his Arsenal career.
